We do site prep: weed, plant and soil removal, soil replacement, grading, sodding, seeding, and ornamental, native and edible plantings.
We outsource some related hardscaping services.

Yes we provide free estimates in the Toronto area.

Q7. I need help but I want to learn. Do you provide organic gardening coaching and maintenance?
A7.
Yes we do. We find that edible gardening is on the upswing in popularity; most people don’t have access to a large space. Planting strategically to maximize yields is a part of companion planting. When done successfully in small spaces allows for a diversity of crops and successive timelines resulting in harvests every week. We pass on this information and are most excited when the client on site weekly at their property ready to learn techniques of advanced urban agriculture as the seasons pass.
We also have a book we are working on called the Urban Edible Gardening Coursebook. It will be published sometime from Fall to Winter 2010. Co-written by Torontonians adept in their field: Organic Farmers, Bug and Disease Specialist, Chefs and Nutritionists.

Q9. The YUG: Your Urban Garden Vertical Growing Barrels: what can you grow in them?
A9.
We have used these barrels in settings unique to urban agriculture. Our applied research with the YUG growing system has provided us with viable feedback in the form of high yields of diverse locally and organically grown produce.
Flowers and herbs can also be grown in the barrels. Perennials can be grown in the barres as long if they can tolerate frost heaving.

We sell the barrels and soil by custom order.
We also do the installation if required. Barrels can be purchased at The Brickworks Farmers Market.
